From its inception on 1 Jan 1797 until 1950 the population of Bullitt County remained mostly rural, and generally grew at a modest rate from census to census as shown in the graphic below.
Beginning in the decade between 1950 and 1960, the county began a period of exceptional growth, as you can see from the graph. This was largely due to an influx of suburban growth spilling over from Jefferson County.
