In the name of God Amen. I Elizabeth Quertermous of Jefferson County and State of Kentucky being of perfect mind and memory make this my last will and testament.
First I give and bequeath to my daughter Nancy Brown my negro woman Esther and my riding saddle
2nd I leave my negro man Caleb to be hired in Service for the term of four years and no longer and at the expiration of said term the said negro man Caleb is to be emancipated and set at liberty.
I give and bequeath the proceeds of the aforesaid four years hire to be equally divided among my beloved Children (Viz) Elisha Quertermous, Nancy Brown, James C Sanders, Polly Quertermous, (widow of James Quertermous deceased) and Thomas Q Wilson my grand Son.
I also leave the residue of my estate arrears of here and all property whatsoever description to be sold on a credit of twelve months and the proceeds of the Same after paying my burial expences and just debts to be equally divided between my beloved children as aforesaid. That is to say, my Son Elisha Quertermous, Nancy Brown, Polly Quertermous widow of James Quertermous deceased, James C Sanders and my grand Son Thomas Q Wilson.
I do hereby nominate and appoint my Son Elisha Quertermous my Executor of this my last will and testament, moreover I do hereby utterly revoke and disallow all former bequests by me in any wise made, declaring this to be my last will and testament
In Witness whereof I have hereunto Set my hand and Seal this thirteenth day of June in the year of our Lord One thousand Eight hundred and twenty three. Elizabeth Quertermous seal

At a County Court continued and held for the County of Jefferson at the Court house in Louisville the ninth day of December, One thousand Eight hundred and twenty three, the within instrument of writing purporting to be the last will and testament of Elizabeth Quertermous deceased, late of this County was produced in Court and proved by the oaths of William Cooper James H West and William H Randall, the three Subscribing witnesses thereto and was contested by Thomas Q Wilson and the parties being heard, it is considered by the Court that the said instrument be and the same is hereby established to be the last will and testament of the said Elizabeth Quertermous and ordered to be recorded as such.
Elisha Quertermous the Executor therein named renounced his right to execute the said will and that I have recorded the same accordingly. And on the tenth day of December in the term aforesaid, On the motion of Thomas Q Wilson who made oath according to law, administration of the estate with the will annexed of Elizabeth Quertermous deceased is granted him. Whereupon he gave bond with John C. Beeler who justified his security in the penalty of two thousand dollars, conditioned according to law. (signed) Worden Pope
