William Caldwell to Francis Maraman - Shepherdsville Lot 62

On 27 Jun 1797, the Shepherdsville Trustees deeded 2 lots to John Moore which would later be designated as lots 62 and 77 in the new plan of Shepherdsville, but which were identified as lots 47 and 49 in the old plan.

Moore would later sell the 2 lots to Elizabeth Styles. Then, after Elizabeth married Edward Crow, and together they sold the lots to George L. Robards. Robards would sell lot 62 to William Caldwell in 1830. Then in 1844 through a court decree, the lot was sold to Francis Maraman as shown below.

Whereas in the suit in chancery pending in the Bullitt Circuit Court in the name of Francis Maraman's heirs against William Caldwell, such proceedings were had at the April term 1843, a decree and order of sale was had in favor of the complainants against said defendants and a commissioner was appointed to-wit: Henry C. Thomas, to make sale of the property decreed to be sold, to-wit: a house and lot in the town of Shepherdsville, Bullitt County, Kentucky, known in the plan of said town by its number 62, and said Thomas, the commissioner in pursuance to said decree did after advertising agreeably to law, sell said lot number 62 and appurtenances for the summer of $50 on the 21st August 1843, and Francis Maraman purchased, and said sale and report thereof was filed in court, in said cause 2nd October 1843, and afterwards at the April term 1844 said sale and report thereof was confirmed, and Noah C. Summers was appointed a commissioner to convey said lot on the part of the said William Caldwell to said Francis Maraman, the purchaser. And said purchase money having been paid by crediting said sale, on the decree by the order of the court.

Wherefore in consideration of the premises, This indenture made this 11th day of April 1844 between the said William Caldwell by the said N. C. summers, commissioner for him for that purpose of one part, and said Francis Maraman of the other part. Witnesseth that for and in consideration of the decrees, orders, sales &c made in the premises, he the said William Caldwell by the said Noah C. Summers, commissioner for him for that purpose, has sold and by these presents does grant, bargain and sell unto him the said Francis Maraman and his heirs forever the said lot No. 62 in the new plan of said town of Shepherdsville, Bullitt County, Kentucky, and its appurtenances.

To have and to hold the said lot No. 62 and its appurtenances aforesaid unto him the said Francis Maraman and to his heirs forever against the claims of all persons whatsoever by this deed in fee simple with general warranty.
