Henry J. Craycroft To Lorenzo Hogland - Lot 43

On 22 Feb 1838, Matthew Wilson conveyed to the trustees of the United Baptist Church of Shepherdsville plots of ground in and near Shepherdsville. It included his warranted title to Lot #43 in the town's new plan. The Church Trustees sold the lot to Samuel A. McKay in 1845. To do so they needed to get permission from the Kentucky General Assembly. McKay later sold the lot to Henry J. Craycroft in January 1846. Then Craycroft sold it to Lorenzo Hogland in 1852 as shown below.

This indenture made and entered into this 16th day of April 1852 by and between Henry J. Craycroft and Eliza Craycroft his wife of the City of Louisville, State of Kentucky of the first part and Lorenzo Hogland of the County of Bullitt and State aforesaid of the second part.

Witnesseth that the said Henry J. Craycroft and wife for and in consideration of $200 paid with a house and lot in the town of Shepherdsville, they the said Craycroft and wife have sold and by these presents do sell, convey and confirm unto the said Lorenzo Hogland and his heirs forever a certain lot of ground in the town of Shepherdsville in the new plan thereof and known by its number 43 which is the same lot deeded by Samuel A. McKay and wife to Craycroft and recorded in Deed Book K, page 476, 21st of January 1846 and all the appurtenances thereunto belonging.

To have and to hold the said lot and appurtenances to him the said Hogland, his heirs and assigns forever, and the said Henry J. Craycroft and wife for themselves, their heirs &c do hereby covenant and agree with the said Hogland to warrant and defend forever the said lot and appurtenances to him the said Hogland and his heirs and assigns forever against the claim of all persons whatever by this their deed in fee simple with general warranty. In testimony whereof the said H. J. Craycroft and wife have hereunto set their hands and seals this day and date first herein written. (signed) H. J. Craycroft, Eliza Craycroft
